Nurturing Strong, Independent Little Ones with Learning Towers
I don’t typically recommend a lot of baby furniture, as I find many items unnecessary and often a waste of space and resources, especially when they’re only used for a few months. For instance, I never felt the need for a changing table, which can take up so much valuable space and isn’t really a necessity in my opinion. However, some equipment, furniture, and accessories can genuinely benefit our children’s growth and help them develop crucial skills for the future. One of those essentials is this folding learning tower by Toddler Tower.
With my little one’s natural curiosity and eagerness to see everything I was doing, I quickly realised that this small piece of wood was going to be a must-have. And oh, was I right! Since introducing the learning tower into our home, we have spent countless hours cooking, playing, and exploring together. It’s surprising how something so small and compact—especially since it can be folded away for easy storage—has transformed our relationship. No more crying at my legs; instead, I see the satisfaction on my child’s face as they reach for things independently. This newfound autonomy not only builds their confidence but also makes mama incredibly proud!
Learning towers allow children to engage in tasks that might have previously been off-limits. When your child can safely reach the kitchen counter, they can help with meal prep, baking, and even washing dishes. For me, it’s incredibly important to raise two strong boys who are both independent and resilient, knowing how to care for themselves, cook, and clean. This foundation of responsibility truly starts at a young age. When kids see tangible results from their efforts—like a cake they helped bake or a salad they contributed to—they learn the joy of hard work and the satisfaction that comes from being a part of a team.
While promoting independence may sound like a solitary pursuit, it can actually be a wonderful family activity. Cooking or crafting together using a learning tower creates opportunities for bonding and laughter. Sharing the joy of creating together can deepen connections and create lasting memories. Plus, it cultivates an overall supportive environment where children feel secure to express themselves and grow.
While it is important to schedule time to bond and develop deeper connections, life often gets in the way with a very long list of to-do jobs and chores to complete around the house.
Having a learning tower by your side means you can still do all of this with your kids by your side, making it a learning experience for them. We try to find fun games to tidy up, clean, and cook together. For example, we turn cleaning into a competition to see who can pick up the most toys in one minute, or we make a game out of washing veggies for dinner, teaching them about teamwork and cooperation.
The learning tower allows us to multitask, taking care of household chores while spending quality time with our children. This not only strengthens our family bonds but also teaches our little ones the value of contributing to the household and working together as a team.
