Christmas Shopping ideas

Christmas is just around the corner and with a lot of gifts to offer, here is my highlight for this year to support small ethical businesses without breaking the bank. It is time to indulge and expand your designer collection this winter with my cherished selection.

Winter is the best time to add warm soft texture and dazzling lighting/candles. Discover everything from decoration to ornaments and find the perfect gifts for your loved ones.

Inspired by morning dewdrops, Kastehelmi’s glass droplet design brings the outdoors in. Available in a fresh range of other colours inspired by nature that highlights Iittala’s coloured glass expertise. It creates beautiful reflections with a lit tealight inside.

A little piece of good feeling, the Big Waffle kitchen & wash cloth is meaningful and tasteful interior textiles with 100% GOTS certified organic cotton. The products from The Organic Company ooze Scandinavian style and are designed in Denmark.

Sonja vase by Lindform comes from the Scandinavian nature with its organic tones and simple shapes. The collection also contains influences from Japan, whose minimalist style marries well with Lindform’s Nordic design. Lindform is a Swedish family business started on a small scale in 2007. They have since then grown to be a brand that is synonymous with Scandinavian design and quality.

Kotten is a natural, sustainable fuel for effectively starting a fire safely and quickly, providing you with the satisfaction of a roaring fire or the perfect charcoal BBQ. If you have a fireplace or know someone with one, this is the perfect gift!

Ceramic candleholder handcrafted in Denmark, by Thora Finnsdottir. Her work is driven by a passion for breathing new life into universally known forms, teasing our perception and waking new strong feelings.

The Kubus Bowl is based on original sketches by Mogens Lassen, and features elements evocative of the Bauhaus school, one of Mogens Lassen’s primary inspirations. The Kubus Bowl is produced in Denmark with a focus on high quality and solid craftsmanship, and the bowl is a natural extension of the iconic Kubus candleholder, designed by Mogens Lassen in 1962. The Kubus Bowl is suitable for home decoration year-round and can contain everything from blossoms to herbs, fruits, vegetables or your favourite candy.

To complement your candles collection you can add a designer named Matchbox Cover’s tribute to cosiness, aesthetics and small everyday details. It is available in three simple versions and is a natural extension of the by Lassen range. Matchbox Cover flirts with the Kubus collection in terms of materials, looks, colours and purposes. The cover is both beautiful and timeless.

The Tangle ornaments, created by design duo Halskov & Dalsgaard, bring a warm and festive feel to your windows, or as decor on your Christmas table. Tangle ornaments come with two ribbons in dark green and warm red, and are available as a heart, ball and cornet, both in small and large sizes.

In the Scandinavian tradition, the Christmas gnomes live under the floorboards and help out farm animals and humans. But if you annoy them, they can play tricks on you. On Christmas Eve, many Scandinavians still put out a bowl of hot porridge on the doorsteps for the gnomes to enjoy, to keep them friendly in the year to come.

The Skandium Christmas gnomes, designed by Åsa Götander, are the perfect small gift for the interiors enthusiast. Each gnome is slightly different, giving them an individual personality.

Sweden in a box – literally. This woodcarving kit includes a classic woodcarving knife no 120 and a wooden Dala horse material. It’s the perfect gift for Christmas, a combination of the two

of Sweden’s most famous national symbols.

Carve the wooden horse and let it decorate your home in its natural costume, or paint and decorate it in a way that matches your mood. There are no limits!

And finally my 2017 highlight, the Jul Mini Christmas Gift set from Skandinavisk. Roaring fires, pine needles in your socks, and the joyous buzz of a Scandinavian Christmas shared. This set contains the Flamma, Hygge, Skog and my favourite Jul* candles. (*with notes of cinnamon, cloves, and timberwood) These are vibrant Christmas trigger scents.

For your everyday essentials, I have selected you handbag must have. To carry all your important cards this handcrafted in 100% black cow leather and finished with a discreet blind embossed from Becca Haf is the indispensable accessory. The minimalist wallet has two card slots on each side and a concealed slip in the middle, perfect for keeping cards and cash organised in a small bag, purse or pocket!

Mirins’ rich and soothing rosemary and grapefruit lip balm, excellent for weather-beaten or chapped lips, is my favourite!

And for the chocolate lover, Peter Beier Chokolade is solid and sustainable and excellent chocolates from Dominican Republic, 100% handmade using cocoa beans from their own plantation, and ingredients from Ørsholt Estate.
